The DSL Broadband Extender (DBE) enhances the performance and functionality of single A/VDSL2 (17a &35b profiles) links or aggregated link bundles using true 3R (Re-amplification, Re-shaping and Re-timing) regeneration. Its multifunctional design supports the full range of Genesis solutions for residential and enterprise networks.
Fiber builds in urban and semi-urban geographies are prevalent across many continents, however in semi-rural and rural areas, the high costs of fiber installations makes fiber penetration less prevalent.
Carriers that have turned to fixed wireless solutions to address their long reach requirements have found this broadband delivery strategy to suffer from line of sight and weather related short comings resulting in poor customer performance/experience. In addition high installation, operations and maintenance costs has made fixed wireless solutions less viable.
Other xDSL solutions that have been available including A/VDSL2 (17a &35b profiles), Vectoring, G.Fast and line amplifiers have not met performance targets required for long-reach rural deployments.
The DBE provides an economical, long-reach, high performance solution which provides a cost effective and viable alternative to fiber deployment. DBEs can be cascaded to achieve ultra long-reach. The DBE solution can be deployed at a tenth of the cost of fiber builds over the same deployment distance.
